Matted Print - "Striving for Life" - © James Wilson
In my last post I wrote out my crazy schedule of events and festivals for the weekend. I'm proud to say I didn't make it to a single one. Why? Because I spent the weekend doing other things that were just as fulfilling if not more.
Instead of running around town attending every event the city was offering, I spent Saturday visiting my brother and a friend I rarely get to see. There's nothing better than quality time spent with the people you care about, catching up on life, love and anything else that comes to mind. Add in some of the most beautiful weather we've had in a while and it was the best "waste" of time I've had in a while.
It wasn't all "wasteful" though, in the evening I picked up some art supplies from Utrecht to sign and mat my small prints (at 40% off too, gotta love back to school) and after Sean finally went to bed I spent a couple of hours signing, matting and packaging forty or so prints. They look amazing and are basically ready to be mailed out. I say basically because I decided to add a small thank you card with each copy. I'm hoping it's the little touches that will separate my work from the rest. Now I have to get those designed, paid for and printed. I seem to just keep adding new things to do every time I complete one, but I'm digressing.

I had hopes that Sunday would prove to be more productive, but it didn't turn out that way. On the other hand I did spend a chilly day hanging out with Steph and Sean. Sean and I spent much of the morning drawing and playing with stickers (his two favorite art activities). We finally pulled ourselves out of the house around noon with a trip to Allendale Farm for some fresh produce. Allendale happens to not only be the only working farm in the Boston area, but a supporter of the arts too. On Sept 2nd they opened a new sculpture park with works from local students and artisans. It's another great reason to shop there instead of the big grocery chains.

I hope everyone else out there had a great weekend doing whatever, even if that's just "wasting time" with some family and friends.
And if you'd like to purchase a matted copy of any of my prints (or even a large fine art canvas) feel free to visit my Etsy Store.
